LINDA BILLET: ginchy glass
The vibrant colors of Linda Billet’s glasswork will help light up Mulberry Art Studios during the ArtSunday events.
Billet got her start in glasswork by creating broken glass mosaics. She perfected her skill in glass through the internet and college classes, and decided to focus on the work she admired the most, kiln-formed glass. Billet experimented with warm glass in a tiny kiln that she operated in her kitchen. Her style and technique evolved over the years, and she now runs ginchy glass, a custom kiln-formed art glass shop. Billet’s passion, dedication, and talent are evident in each piece she creates. Her imagination and artistic vision give each of her pieces a unique look, and she always keeps in mind her Grandma’s words “Matching is boring.” Billet finds inspiration for her artwork in fabric prints, architecture, and nature. “Nature inspires me, mostly water” says Billet, “I love the ocean. I am constantly trying to copy waves or ripples in water patterns.” Billet, who participated in Lancaster’s Spring ArtWalk at Mulberry Art Studios this past April, is thrilled to be returning to Mulberry Art Studios for ArtSunday. Billet’s glass mosaics can be seen around town on Market Street in York, on the wall in Hoss’s Steakhouse and the window of Brenda’s Mirrored Images. Her artwork can also be seen online at ginchyglass.com. | ^ top
TERENCE WARD “THE NIBBLER”: SIGNS OF THE HOBO
Signs of the Hobo is the newest body of work to come from the creative mind of Terence Ward, the artist known as “The Nibbler”.
The Nibbler found the inspiration to create this exhibit from the interesting symbols found in hobo signs. Hobo signs are groups of ideographic systems drawn or carved into trees, walls, or other available surfaces, for the purpose of providing information and warning to other hobos passing through. “These signs demonstrate that even at the lowest levels of society, comprised of arguably the poorest and least educated, people have a basic tendency towards good, and helping others” says Nibbler. This collection of images was created in the manner of the action painters. While still endeavoring to be entertaining on a purely aesthetic level, these paintings have the further significance of truly saying something in an unusual way.
A York County native, Nibbler has led an eclectic existence, only recently returning to Pennsylvania after spending many years in Mississippi. Although initially inspired by the great masters, from Giotto and da Vinci to Van Gogh and Whistler, Nibbler was revolutionized by the irony and hardships in his diverse experiences in places like U.S. Marine Corps, and the Louisiana oil fields as a merchant seaman. Almost entirely abandoning the brush subsequent to his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis is 2001, and armed with the epiphany that reality is highly overrated, Nibbler studied the works and theories associated with such modern movements as cubism, surrealism, expressionism, and abstract expressionism. As a result, he has deconstructed and transformed his ethos into a post-modern mélange which allows viewers to connect on a primal level with their inner selves.

TERI EDGEWORTH: SUMMER TO HARVEST 2006
Summer to Harvest 2006, the latest collection of work to come from Lancaster artist Teri Edgeworth.
Teri’s main goal is to allow the viewer take five from all the workday stress and join her in a place where they can escape and breathe in, feel like they are “there” with her and relax with serene greens, rich and mellow blues. Teri has been described as prolific, which is something you can see as you go from one scene to the next. Her work is done mostly in acrylics with some oils and a few watercolors. Teri is currently starting a series that relates to the art scenes right here in Lancaster as it is fast growing. Her statement to anyone pursuing their dreams is simply “If you do what you love, all the rest will follow. Never give up on your dreams, as it is never too late to attain them!” Teri has been actively showing her artwork for almost four years in several local shows and venues, and is now permanently located at studio 212 on the second floor of Mulberry Art Studios. Her studio is always open for First Fridays and Second Sundays. For more information, and to view her artwork online, please visit teriedgeworthart.com. |

WORKS BY ANN KIMMICH
Ann Kimmich will be exhibiting a collection of her fine art at Mulberry Art Studios during Downtown Lancaster’s Fall ArtSunday events.
Kimmich, who was a shy girl throughout school, found her voice in painting bright and loud colors, which revealed what was longing to be heard inside her. Kimmich has held on to these techniques, and the paintings that she creates speak much louder than words. Her abstract expressionist paintings reveal a continual desire to share with others what is most important to her. Kimmich hopes that viewers will find something of themselves in her work, and be encouraged to create art for the simple joy of it.
Kimmich, who only recently moved to Lancaster city, continues to be impressed by the presence of art galleries and the growing support for the arts in this community. She feels that she couldn’t have moved to a better place to get involved in the art scene. Kimmich has started her own company, Kimmich Art & Design, which supports artists and local companies by creating websites, designing promotional materials, and painting murals. JEANIE ZENTZ: TIMELINES
Jeanie Zentz will be displaying her newest exhibit, Timelines, at Mulberry Art Studios during Downtown Lancaster’s Fall ArtSunday events.
Timelines consists of oil paintings that explore shape, color, and texture. Zentz enjoys painting in a variety of styles, mainly because she feels that art cannot be confined by boundaries that limit self expression. Her work is continually evolving and can be unconventional at times.
“I strive for new ways to represent my physical and spiritual sensations in paint” says Zentz.
Jeanie Zentz is represented by galleries in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and North Carolina. Her work has sold all over the East coast and adorns the walls of many contemporary houses. Zentz also works with interior designers, creating artwork for their clients to complement the design concept. BRENTON ALLEN: THE MINUTIA OF MIRACLES
The Minutia of Miracles, the latest body of work to come from artist Brenton Allen.
The inspiration for The Minutia of Miracles can be summed up by the Albert Einstein quote, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Brenton Allen believes in miracles. The work in this series was created either with graphite or prismacolors in a style of soft realism, with an emphasis on tonal quality and composition. Allen is a self-taught artist who is always working to expand his technique, subject matter, and form. He has included studies as well as finished pieces in this exhibit. |

CHRISTIAAN BAIRD: THOUGHTS OF LANCASTER
Thoughts of Lancaster, Christiaan Baird’s latest collection of fine art, will be displayed at Mulberry Art Studios during Downtown Lancaster’s Fall ArtSunday.
Christiaan Baird focused on Lancaster County when creating this show, capturing its beauty with oil pastels, a medium he enjoys for its soft edges and gauzy strokes of substance. “In the misty morning of a Lancaster sunrise, I suppose they seemed most appropriate to capturing the rolling tapestry of color in a county I’m lucky to call home” says Baird. Baird has worked at creative agencies as an Art Director and continues to freelance locally and abroad. Baird is currently teaching Advertising and Design and the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center. | ^ top
ROB KAPCHINSKE: EVOLUTION
Local artist Rob Kapchinske has added some past work to his existing digital photography to create his latest exhibit, Evolution of Eclectic, just in time for Art Walk.
In Evolution of Eclectic, Kapchinske will display not only his current “Kitchen Paintings” but also acrylic, watercolor and pastel paintings and illustrations in his studio (#209) at Mulberry Art Studios. The work reflects Kapchinske’s ever changing style and subject matter. Kapchinske revisited the older work for inclusion in the Lititz Art Show in July, where he received positive feedback from patrons of the show. Kapchinske realized his ever changing artistic style was a reflection of his eclectic tastes in music, movies, food and art. Instead of trying to focus on one subject and one medium, Kapchinske decided to embrace his many interests and allowed them to grow into an Evolution of Eclectic.
